Porcelain Crowns, Metal Crowns, or All-Ceramic Crowns?
The main difference between a Porcelain Fused to Metal Crown (Left below) and an All-Ceramic Crown (Right) is that the sub-structure in the PFM crown is Metalic and therefore gives it an undesirable “Matte appearance” whereas, the All-Ceramic crown’s sub-structure is made of a white-colored substance giving it a more natural look. All-Ceramic Crowns will also avoid the dark lines that occur around the margins of porcelain fused to metal crowns over time.
